Ambunu makes your hair softer and adds a beautiful sheen to it. It gives you stronger, thicker hair. Prevents dry scalp and lessens hair loss.
Ambunu is an old tradition from Africa. This tradition is almost dead in Chad, however Miss Sahel discovered this tradition while talking with elder Chadian women. They told her that back in the day women used to wash their hair and scalp with it and at the same time use it to detangle their hair.
The benefits of it compared to other herbal shampoo like Shikakai is that it is actually very slippery and can be used as a natural conditioner. This plant contains saponin which gives it its ability to cleanse and it is an effective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and an emollient.
To use Ambunu you just have to mix it with water, let it sit on its own for ten minutes until it becomes gooey, then put it on your hair and rub it, detangle and rinse it off or leave it on.
This plant is actually still very commonly used among other nomadic women in the Sahel regions. They just name it differently according to their own dialect.
Directions- Put one litre of hot water* in a container with a tablespoon of Ambunu. Let it sit for ten minutes. Gently massage into the hair and detangle with a comb. Rinse thoroughly with water.
*These instructions are provided by Sahel cosmetics. Please experiment with your use of water and the thickness you like. If you prefer it thicker (we found it easier to apply a little thicker than the suggested water/Ambunu directions) just mix the Ambunu with enough warm water for your liking, let it sit on its own for ten minutes until it becomes gooey, then apply it to your hair, rub it in and detangle. Rinse off or leave it in for a more intensive treatment.
