PROMOTES HAIR GROWTH
Spirulina is known for its potential to promote hair growth due to its high protein, essential fatty acid, and nutrient content, which can nourish hair follicles and strengthen hair shafts.
ANTI-AGING AND IMPROVING SKIN HEALTH
-The compounds in spirulina could help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, blemishes, and sun damage. Research suggests Spirulina may have anti-aging properties due to its high antioxidant content and potential to enhance collagen production and protect against oxidative stress, potentially improving skin health and delaying signs of aging.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, ANTIOXIDANT, ANTIMOCROBIAL PROPERTIES MAY BENEFIT A RANGE OF HEALTH CONDITIONS
-Research suggests spirulina has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and cholesterol-lowering properties. It may have benefits for conditions ranging from gum disease to diabetes….
-An excellent summary study of Spirulina was done in 2002. The authors summarised the many potential benefits of Spirulina: “It (Spirulina) has been experimentally proven, in vivo and in vitro that it is effective to treat certain allergies, anaemia, cancer, hepatotoxicity, viral and cardiovascular diseases, hyperglycaemia, hyperlipidaemia, immunodeficiency, and inflammatory processes, among others. Several of these activities are attributed to Spirulina itself or to some of its components including fatty acids omega-3 or omega-6, beta-carotene, alpha-tocopherol, phycocyanin, phenol compounds, and a recently isolated complex, Ca-Spirulan (Ca-SP) (Chamorro et al, 2002).
BLOOD PRESSURE
- Research indicates that spirulina supplementation may help reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, particularly in individuals with hypertension. A 2021 review suggests that spirulina may help to prevent and treat high blood pressure. Research in the review suggests that spirulina supplementation significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The reductions were greater in people with high blood pressure than typical blood pressure levels.
HEART HEALTH
Research in a 2024 article suggests that spirulina may have potential benefits for various heart-related diseases. It may work by limiting or preventing risk factors for these conditions, including high blood pressure, high blood sugars and high levels of fats in the blood.
BRAIN HEALTH AND NEURODEGENERATIVE CONDITIONS
A research study in 2022 discusses the potential neuroprotective effects of spirulina. It summarises that spirulina may have a positive effect on the activation of glial cells, which support and protect nerve cells.
It states that Spirulina may also have benefits in the treatment of neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
SPIRULINA IS USED IN MEDICINE TO PREVENT AND TREAT A WIDE RANGE OF HEALTH CONDITIONS
